Over Lent, we have been studying the Lord’s Prayer in a series entitled “Our Prayer.” During Holy Week, we will look at the closing sections of that prayer and see how they give us insight into God’s work that Jesus accomplished for all of us through His death and resurrection.
During our Sunday worship service at 5:30 p.m. in-person and online, we will continue our series on the Lord’s Prayer, thinking about how temptation often comes right when we feel like we are focused on God. Just as it did for the people who hailed their king that first Palm Sunday.
Picking up at the familiar end of the Lord’s Prayer that isn’t actually in the Lord’s Prayer (“For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever”), we turn to King David’s remarks that give us that phrase and will focus our hearts ahead of Easter on how we see God’s coming victory even when it feels distant.
A special online and in-person Maundy Thursday journey through the Gospels’ account of the night Jesus was betrayed and His subsequent crucifixion. The Lord’s Prayer traditionally ends with “The Kingdom, the Power and the Glory,” but what do we do when brokenness, sin and defeat seem to be all that is in view? Please share this time with us, as we reflect on the healing and restoring love of our Savior that brings eternal life.
Different members of our community will share parts of the reading as we meditate on the love Jesus has shown us. We hope you will be part of this meditative time that prepares us for the joy of Easter.
Christ the Lord is Risen! As we celebrate His victory over death, we see what David prayed centuries before about God’s “Kingdom, Power and Glory” came true. Today, as we pray, we can trust that Jesus’s promises will be fulfilled in the time ahead for us, too.
