Mercy for the Worst of Sinners (March 9, 2026)

Two half-brothers leave for the same war; only one comes home. When rescue divides one person from another, “Why me?” can feel unanswerable—and salvation can raise the same uneasy question. In 1 Timothy 1:15–16, Paul refuses to ground his rescue in merit, calling himself the worst of sinners and pointing instead to Christ’s purpose and patience.

Stop and Think: Trespassing With Good Intentions (February 22, 2026)

We've all tried to manage our relationship with God on our own terms—keeping up appearances, going through the motions, assuming good effort is good enough. Isaiah 1:18 cuts through that with a direct invitation: “Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord”—and the question it presses is whether we'll actually stop and think about what he's offering.

Dumber Than an Ox (February 1, 2026)

An ox knows who feeds it; a donkey knows its master's crib. But what about God's people — including us? We forget.

When the In-Group Isn't Enough (January 11, 2026)

Being in the right group, studying the right things, living a decent life—it feels like that ought to be enough. But in Acts 13, Paul announces to a synagogue full of people who had done exactly that: there are things the Law of Moses simply could not free you from, and being part of the in-group won’t close that gap.

The Grace Blizzard Has Come (December 7, 2025)

When a winter forecast keeps bouncing around, most of us know better than to cancel everything over what might never arrive. Luke opens his Gospel with the opposite claim: this is no chance of grace next week, but the report of what has already been fulfilled among us—Jesus actually coming in history.

All Snow... is Snow (December 1, 2025)

We don’t want to simply know about a miracle that happened long ago and was forgotten thereafter. We need to know that there is a consistency in God’s care, too.

You are... Very Fine Paintbrush (November 17, 2025)

As we continue in Ephesians 2, Paul helps us to think about the difference between being called to do “good works” and earning God’s favor through our works.

Know the Full Story (November 10, 2025)

The wonder of what God does for us is so much greater when we don’t forget the story behind it.

Electric Eels, Black Ice, and the God You Can't Derail (November 9, 2025)

Solomon, Rehoboam, and Jeroboam all treated God’s promises like something they could improve on or control on their own terms only to encounter the pavement courtesy of the black ice of sin. Our efforts end like that, but God’s faithfulness outlasts our failures.

Adopting a Dead Dog (November 3, 2025)

As we continue in Ephesians 2, we’re reminded of how God loves us even when we are of no value at all.
